View Full Version : [ubuntu] Running Gnome and KDE -- Want a program to run on startup in just Gnome

So, I installed a KDE desktop to play around with on my already installed Ubuntu distribution (with Gnome default). On Gnome, I use gdesklets to display things like an analog clock and a calendar, but it doesn't really match the theme of KDE, and I'd like to check out the KDE widgets. At the same time, I love gdesklets for gnome. How do I get them to run on gnome at startup, but not on kde at startup? I notice that kde essentially automatically seems to have adopted all the programs and startup settings from my gnome desktop.

That allows me to reset the global preferences, that doesn't, at least as best as I can determine, allow me to alter the startup setting for gnome but not KDE. It does both at the same time.

Yes, I also would like to know how to do this.

Any updates here? I installed gnome in kubuntu and now I have both networkmanagers in the tray but I really only want to have knetworkmanager in kde.
