Hey all,

so i think i figured out my partition table woes..

but i did had a question as far as software compatibility

im looking for a program called TestDisk and i searched the universal software repository and couldn't find it but i did manage to find a regular download for Linux.

so heres the question...

can Ubuntu run programs that are labeled as Linux programs ?

lol so i guess im posting a journal of the progress on this problem...

So i've figured out that with a program called "alien"

sudo apt-get install alien

:D I LOVE THE SOFTWARE REPOSITORY!!!!

I can convert .rpm file to a .deb ( and all sorts of other extensions)

as per this thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=387922

i DAFS!!!

lol ( did a ****ing search )

so this brings me to the question of:
wget http://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk-6.6-1.i386.rpm

which i get a 404 when i try to d/l

and how do i tell if my computer has DMA? (also mentioned in the above post)
