Hi
I started a project to help music teachers (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=901124) keep track of their students and what they are working on, but the application has not been named yet!
I want to put the current code (thanks to Mickeysofine1972) on Launchpad so everybody can contribute. So therefor I need a name for the project.

Here are the current suggestions:
- Lesson Log
- Lesson Manager
- KeepTracker
- Overview
- Music mate

Thanks
//MadsRH

Oh, and if you want to contribute you are more than welcome! The programming thread is here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=901124

Can't any sort of teacher use this? How is the program music-specific?

If it can be used by any teacher, I wouldn't go with Music Mate.

SoundCheck?

... or perhaps SoundTrack?

If it can be used by any teacher, I'd go with eduOpen.

I think the name of the application should reference the Delaney Card (http://www.nytimes.com/2003/09/14/nyregion/14colm.html?ex=1379476800&en=e82f8864dafeeb57&ei=5007&partner=USERLAND).

I guess it can, but there's some code should be changed then (like where it says instrument: guitar, drums, piano...). Perhaps more people would get involved if it could be used by any teacher? Then again, I'm not sure how to do that, so I guess the first mission is the music teacher version.

eduOpen sounds great

I kind of like Open Tuition Tracker

Some thoughts:

Ugh, please don't use Open Tuition Tracker. The "open" bugs me, and the "tuition" part makes it sound financial. "eduOpen" is similarly annoying to me.
"Overview" is possibly worse.
Whatever you do, don't use G or K as a prefix, there are enough of those.

I thought Scyllabus was interesting. That would also open up artistic possiblities for the web site :).

Don't you mean Syllabus?

Nope, it was "Scyllabus". If it was a typo, that's unfortunate, because it made me think of Scylla. Interesting artisitic possibilities, although maybe we shouldn't be associating music teachers with sea monsters. :D My piano teacher, for one, was very nice.
