Hello,

I have an older compact size computer with Intel Pentium 3 at 1 GHz 512 MB Ram and the Intel chipset all the way. I used this computer as my home server, since it doesn't require much energy while running. Very good for 24/7 operation in a normal home.

I have installed Ubuntu 7.10 on it, which worked without any problems. I could also run the Ubuntu Desktop 7.10 fine.

But now I would like to install the latest Ubuntu, 8.04.1 LTS, but it halts either by initial Server installation or complains about Modprobe exit unexpected when trying to run the Desktop Live CD.

Installing 7.10 and then making a distribution upgrade from there to 8.04.1 will result in an unbootable system as well, complaining about modprobe exit.

So, how to solve this?
