Skype is a recursive acronym:

Skype: Killing Your Private Exchanges.

Could you please change the question to: Do you want that Ubuntu will go close-source and therefore you have to pay for Ubuntu, so that we can ship Ubuntu with Skype.

No just because it is closed-source. I do think some decent VoIP software would be nice though

For me "yes that would be great", for my family and friends "yes that would be great".

But I have to say no for the reasons mentioned above and that a distro should be as open as generic as possible.

However I think skype should be in the repositories as its a killer app for many!

Skype-out prices are a complete rip-off and it's closed source.

No thanks.

It will never and should never happen.

I do not use Ekiga, but Skype is non-free and easy enough to install. I would support leaving Ekiga out of the default install, but not replacing it with non-free software.
