Galeon Web Browser

Hi, I was searching for some new software to install in Add/Remove and I came across Galeon Web Browser. In the years I have been using Ubuntu I've never seen this application before! I quickly installed it and was kinda impressed on how the search toolbars are arranged! It most of the Google search entries like Images. This is another browser based of Mozilla. In terms of Flash, I have found it to be responsive than Firefox 3 which comes with Ubuntu. I guess I will be sticking to this and SwiftWeasel 2.0.0.9 Here is a screenshot:

Galeon web browser has not been under development since 2005. The sourceforge site isn't even active anymore. All current development is now being concentrated on the Epiphany fork of Galeon.

its a shame too, as I liked galeon more then epiphany due to all the neat plugins and stuff it had.

Yup it is a dead project

No matter if it's dead or not it sure as hell works way faster on javascript/falsh intensive pages than firefox in Ubuntu 8.10.
Even take youtube.com for example!
Galeon is amazing.
The only problem is annoying dialog boxes time to time.

Another great browser is Kazehakase. I think it uses webkit as well, so that's a plus.

The problem with all modern browsers (opera, firefox, exploder) is that they are all packed with crap like stuffed animals!

sorry for commenting on an older post. it is a shame about Galeon. i'm running it on my crunchbang laptop and it works great. i know that it "forked" to epiphany but it just isn't the same. maybe someone will pick it up and run with it?

Unfortunately Epiphany sucks: clunky interface, flash video chat crashes it, and it doesn't have a "never for this site" password storage response, only "not now" or "yes". Galeon was excellent, and fortunately the Karmic version still works on Lucid if you softlink the outdated libgnome-desktop-2.so.11 from the current version.
