[SOLVED] unable to initiate Hal

When The system starts up as normal,Log on, after which at the final screen I get the mess
unable to initiate Hal.
I close the mes. and continue on using the PC as normal with no Probs.
Should I be worried about this? Or what does this mean?
Have looked for similar situations.Unable to find.
Any help appreciated.Direction to relevant thread,stc.

Sorry.This is the latest release Uuntu 8.04 Lts

I looked around for a solution.No great luck.Went through synaptic looking for HAL and install packages that looked revelant.Do not know what they were and seemed to work.
