Keyboard problem now a catastrophic problem

Using Open Office, keyboard started to act funny. Volume control pops up on screen acting like I'm adjusting. I'm not.

Backspace key doesn't work. Starts repeating backslashes.

Gets progressively worse. Can't shut down machine.

Now, I can reboot, but I can't even enter a password.

I can't access bios.

Something is seriously wrong. Can anybody help?
