In about a month it looks like I will have more corporate off lease (old) servers, free to a good home in the S.E. Michigan area
can be used as file/web servers, something to learn on or as a paper weights if you like.
No details yet (most work) I just know that they will fill up a pickup truck bed.

Stay tuned...

Staying tuned, I could use a few of these if there is a surplus.

How old is old?8-9 years

the last batch was compaq 1600's with pII's, 1650R's with pIII's, ml350-g1's and dl380-g1's

the 1600's are the paper weights, but still fun to learn on...

I would be interested in picking one up as well if there are any leftovers.

rustybronco

There most likely will be a few leftovers shall we say.
with things being a little busy lately, we just needed to find the time to set them up and wipe the drives.
hopefully it should be in the next week or so.

Not to be a schnorr, but any word on these? I almost bought an old Prolian today on craigslist to play with then remembered this discussion.

Works for me. I ended up not giving into my baseless temptation to buy one off of craig's, so I can wait.

Ok, Here goes........

some old compaq proliant's up for grabs, you can do a search on the models

we haven't opened them up so this is my best guess.

1 ML530 (pIII ?)
1 6500 (Pentium pro 1-4 cpu's ???)
1 DL380 "G1" (PIII.. 1 0r 2 cpu ?)
3+ 1600's (probably PII.. 1 or 2 cpu)
1+ 2500's (pentium pro?)
1 3000 (maybe PIII ? maybe pentium pro?)
3 drive arrays (2 stand alone and 1 rack mount)
several DLT drives (35/70)
1 pile of other stuff (maybe 2 piles)
assorted hard drives... (should all be scsi)

let me know if interested and I can find out more if needed when time permits.

Nullhead has the first choice, it was my promise to him from the last batch.

located around the Roseville Michigan area.

I'm probably most interested in the ml350. If it's at all convenient, perhaps you or I could take a look at it. Do you know if these work?

I am interested in just getting my hands on the best available if and when my turn comes around.

I am in no dire need of a server, just want one if it's feasible.

NullHead

Well the ml530 is my pick. :)

I'll take a couple scsi drives off your hands too.

If that 3000 looks like this one, I'd love it. Always wanted one of these big *** cases.

Of course any extra memory or hard drives that are surplus and will fit would be welcomed :) .

my guess would be the the dl380 G1, it should be a 1.0 ghz if it's just like the one I have.

but you can always come take a look when you/we get the time.

Nullhead I got your PM, we could set up a time that all could come and pick out what they want.

It makes no difference to me. Someone go ahead and pick a date. I'll let you know after that if I can come or not :P

Holy cow. This week flew right by.

Has anyone worked out a time/place to make this easy for rustybronco?

NullHead
December 20th, 2008, 07:08 AM
Perhaps it'd be easier to get a gathering time after the holidays have passed. If anybody has a specific date that works, then let it out :D I think I can come just about when ever you're ready.

I third it.

it's been busy this holiday season, sorry I haven't got back with you sooner.
tentatively, I think sometime next (not this) weekend would do for all concerned and more that likely it will be at my cousins martial art studio.
I'll call him today and let you know as soon as I can.

Might have to sit this one out.

I work for a mortgage bank. Rates are low and VOLATILE. I do not have the expected freedom this week to head out Roseville way.

It's not liek I had something reserved, but please don't count on me making it out.

Kind of sucks, but the work is paying off (looks like better hardware is in the pipeline for old AW PHENOM 2 maybe?).

If there is another round of server stuff, please keep me in mind.

I got 6 scsi hard drives for my gateway rustybronco gave me last time. My brother got two KVM switches. They all work!

Thanks, rustybronco and DaServerGuy!

Nullhead, they are all operating pulls, and at that time they were perfect working servers.
