ive been using ubuntu with gnome desktop for a long time

i decided i want to try something new

if i install kubuntu-desktop will it completely mess up my existing gnome desktop?

i have read that i will be able to switch back and forth but will my settings get all messed up when i do?

can i make a new user that uses kde desktop and keep the current user with gnome desktop?

I've done it before and it's pretty safe, I've installed KDE 4.1 without any issues and I uninstalled it without any issues, I say go ahead.
