View Full Version : [ubuntu] trouble installing ubuntu 8.04

when i try to install ubuntu alongside windows, i choose install ubuntu, after the first loading bar finishes loading, ubuntu doesnt load, my moniter just flickers and it doesnt stop. it does it evry time i try.

System Type > PC
Processor > Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 @ 1.86GHz
RAM > 1 GB - DDR2 SDRAM
Hard Drive > 320 GB
Graphics Controller > Nvidia GeForce 7650 GS 256 MB
Networking > Ethernet, Wireless

Hi,
Check your H/W config.You might be having < 256MB RAM.

Can you boot into Ubuntu from the CD? My best guess would be that the CD is defect.

yes i can boot it from the cd and i have 1gb of memory

So it recognises all your hardware. I would try burning a new CD. Set it to burn at a low speed to achieve maximal quality.

When the loading bar starts, press Ctrl+Alt+F8; after a few seconds, the screen should start filling up with text. What is the last text you see there?
