Hey I know this sounds crazy but I like the look of Vista and its GUI. I just can't get used to Kubuntu but don't want Vista itself as my PC can't handle it. How can I make it look like Vista's GUI? I know about downloading environments and stuff but am lost as to how to install them or apply them. PLEASE HELP ME AS THIS IS DRIVING ME INSANE!

yes, you must be crazy :P

anway here is a good guide : http://gnomestyle.blogspot.com/2007/05/make-ubuntu-look-like-vista.html

it uses gnome so to start you'll want to do " sudo apt-get install gnome " and to swich your DE to gnome, select it in the loggin window (under sessions )

Yes, you must be.

And a better way to get started, would be by installing ubuntu-desktop in stead og gnome.

installing gnome is fine, but installing ubuntu-desktop will take care of additional distro specific dependencies. Some you might like, other you wont. But in the long run, it will make your live easier.

Wait until Kubuntu 8.10 comes out in October - it uses KDE 4.1, whereas previous versions of Kubuntu used KDE 3.x. KDE 4 is extremely Vistaish to start with. Simply change the wallpaper and rearrange the panel icons/plamoids a bit, and your computer will look 85% like Vista. You can tweak it a bit further by changing the KWindow theme, or by installing Compiz and the Emerald (http://wiki.compiz-fusion.org/Decorators/Emerald) Windows Decorator and applying a Vista Compiz (http://www.compiz-themes.org/content/show.php/Vista+Basic?content=44228) theme.

Why should I do that? It will make what easier?
