I was interested in using Xnest or according to the synaptic package manager I should be using xserver-xephyr. Anyway, I want to connect to another machine locally which I can currently do using XDMCP but I don't want to tie up my machine completely when I connect remotely, not to mention the other machine is headless so I don't want to have to locally log in first and then use a remote desktop vnc connection. I arrived through reading other threads that the use xnest to open a window locally that runs an xserver to connect to another machine(similar to xming in windows from what I could tell).

Anyway, I installed Xnest, but I haven't figured out how to use it.

Could somebody post an example of how to use it; if my local machine ip address is 192.168.254.77, how would I structure a command to connect using xnest to connect to it?

Thanks!
