I'm a new boy trying to install unbuntu 8.04.1 on a 1.2Gb desktop as an application in windows before committing to a partition. Installs ok but as m/c is already dual-booting Win98 & XP, booting to ubuntu loads command line - "grub" and awaits an entry from me. On checking the various command line entries offered, none enable me to proceed.
"Password" asks for authentication, "setup" reports that it (and Install) will be removed soon and "boot" requires the kernel to be loaded (which I assume should have already occurred).
Has anyone any ideas how to boot ubuntu into an operational state on a m/c which has already used the windows bootloader?
