So, here's a new question. Is it possible to get my HP Photo Smart (M425) Camera and HP Photo Smart 8050 Printer working on Ubuntu 8.04. They are not connected right now and I do not have any other OS besides Ubuntu. I do have the cds that came with them. I tried to just use a usb cable to attach my camera and upload pictures that way through FSpot but I couldn't figure it out.

This guy (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=290205) seems to have a workaround to the same camera.

As for the printer, what happens if you plug it in and try to print something?

here is a related link (http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-PhotoSmart_8000).

I've not tried to plug it in yet. I suppose I could. Hmmm! Thanks for the info about the camera. I'll check it out :) They were gifts in 2006 and I don't have the money to invest in new ones yet.

My HP Media Center has a 15-in-1 Card reader but I'm not sure if that will work either. This is fun learning new things but I hope I can get my stuff working now that I have the computer running again.

Thanks again :)

YOu were right, the printer was detected when I plugged it in and I did find a way around the camera issue. It's a little involved but it works. Now, going to see what that other guy did and see if what he did was any easier LOL! THanks for the help!
