i currently use none, but am kinda learning about their potential power.

edit: has this thread already been made five thousand times?

You mean scripts you've written yourself? I use simple backup scripts, profile my monitor and other convenience and automation scripts, but they're all simple. If I need to write something more complex I just think to myself that it must be out there somewhere already, and it usually is.

I made a script that downloads and displays the latest xkcd comic :D

I use a script to start conky, and then run an rsync backup :)

I've got a couple of scripts that backup various parts of my system and burn them to DVD, and one that extracts time spent online from the system log (I like to keep track of dialup hours).

I made a script to display the current playing song(mpd) in the awesome statusbar and another to display the time since the mirror I use for arch updates was last synced.
