If you try to install the Amarok package from the repositories on (Gnome) Ubuntu, it has the kubuntu-desktop metapackage as a dependency. Is there some way to get Amarok installed without all of KDE? I assume all it really requires is the right toolkit -- is that the case? How would I go about doing that?

It will automaticly install all the needed libraries to run Amarok on gnome when you click to install the package (8.04 does at least) You shouldn't even need to configure anything. Works like a charm :) It did not install KDE for me, just some kde libraries.

Oh, thanks, okay, I'm dumb then. I just sort of assumed. Thanks for setting me straight!
