I wonder..... 'Toys R Us' here in the UK used to sell quite a few EeePCs.

Call me cynical but it seems strange that since Asus's sales seem to be taking off, they now only sell those netbooks with XP, and Linux is nowhere to be seen. Also Elonex sell their webbook with Ubuntu preinstalled at CarphoneWarehouse but their units are switched off whilst the XP variant is up and running. You have to be Sherlock Holmes to find the Linux version on their site.

PCWorld sell Acer netbooks but their staff suggest the "XP version is better" and they too have the Linux units in hibernate mode.

It is ironic that they also sell Macs and when you look at the iMac, staff are thin on the ground unless you wander over the the Microsoft product when they are like flies around a honeypot.

I am not a conspiracy believer generally, but I wonder just how much leverage a monopolist company has to force opposition into the ground and how far they would be prepared to go to achieve this end.
