I just installed ubuntu hardy heron because I needed a software that could surf the web, listen to music, and play games time to time. I wanted to get away from the constant problems that Windows bring, so I am making this thread for all those people that need help using the new applications on Ubuntu, using the terminal, installing and playing games, and how to use basic functions in the terminal.

I am not an expert on any of the things listed above so I ask for any one kind enough to devote some time to help the new ubuntu users including myself.

:)

In addition to lukjad007's list there are a few more sites you should know of:

wiki.ubuntu.org
help.ubuntu.org

and this one is not for help... but its nice to know.
www.getdeb.net

getdeb hosts a bunch of programs that might be in the repos, but it is updated more frequently.
