So after having guessed wrongly on a bunch of possible drivers, I was hoping someone could tell me what a Gateway T6321 has for a wireless card. Even better, if you could help me getting it to work.

All I know is this:

seth@SLinux:~$ lspci -nn

I was hoping someone could tell me what a Gateway T6321 has for a wireless card.

As per the model number, you have a Realtek 8187b wireless card. It's not visible in the lspci, though, can't figure why.

Let's try the following commands to see if we can tease it out:

lspci -vvv | grep -i -A 7 -B 1 -E wireless\|realtek\|network
sudo lshw -C network
iwconfig

The third command is on the off-chance that it is actually detected and working!

Post back the outputs for further troubleshooting.

First command:

lspci -vvv | grep -i -A 7 -B 1 -E wireless\|realtek\|network

Second:

Third:

iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

I don't see it

I don't see it

Neither do I... are you sure it's present / working? Try a Windows Live CD (BartPE) or some other distro. I have my doubts as to whether the device actually is working.

Could there be some BIOS setting disabling it? (Clutching at straws).

Ahh, after searching that card, I found: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=571046&highlight=Realtek+8187B&page=2

Which seems to be exactly what I need
