replace missing files w/aptitude

I'm sure this is a noob question, but here goes. After removing a package with "apt-get remove anyapp" and then manually deleting some of the files. If I then try to re-install the app with "app-get install anyapp", I sometimes find that some of the files that I had manually deleted are not re-installed? Files such as the init script or files under /etc/myapp. Is this a way to tell aptitude to install ALL files. I am of course under the assumption that the files I manually deleted did not exist prior to the first time I installed the application with aptitude (apt-get).

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
