View Full Version : [ubuntu] Installing on a Bare Bones system

I bought a bare bones system yesterday.
M2A-VM motherboard
8 GB Ram
AMD Athalon x64 chip
250 MB SATA hd
6 USB ports

no CD drive
no floppy drive

I installed an IDE DVD Burner today.

I put the Ubuntu 8.04 84 bit install disk in.
The light on the DVD drive flickers during bootup.
Other than that, nothing happens.
I've obviously done something wrong, but don't know what.

Any pointers.

Is your BIOS set to boot from the CD/DVD drive before the hard drive?

I thought I had done that.
When I checked it, I discovered I hadn't done it. What I had done was set "removable" as first.

Anyway, I've got it installed now.

There was a problem with the monitor display, but reinstalling Ubuntu it fixed it. (Monitor display was at the wrong resolution. )
