Hi..
How do I install Ubuntu on an old laptop which doesn't have working CD, no USB boot and NO WORKING (any) OS.
I am new to Ubuntu or Linux (with no network experience).

Can I install Ubuntu on a new hard drive from other working PC (window or ubuntu) and then transfer that hard drive to my old laptop?
Will it work? If it works, how can I do?

PS.I post the same message a few minutes ago but the title was not obvious about asking help.

you might try this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=350651.

I am having trouble with the mirror sites you might have better luck.

Sounds like there's no way for your computer to read any data.

No CD/USB/floppy means no physical data access.

No OS means no internet access available.

The only other option I can think of is perhaps using a network boot (have never tried that, but remember seeing options for that in my BIOS).

Try looking in the bios for a network install option (pxe).
If I remember what tutorial I used it will post a link.
This isn't the one I used but it may help:

You will need a second pc running Linux, the install may appear to hang but just leave it in the conner and it will install.
The other alternative is if you have a laptop with a cd drive swap the hard drives, if you do it this way you have to be careful not to damage any of the pins on the connectors
