- Open Office 2.4

I have tried http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=386385 this walkthrough, but all I get is Open Office opening the .docx file then saying there is a Read Error and the data cant be opened..

has anyone had a successful install and a working way?

Don't think OO has the ability to write to .docx; you should be able to read a .docx, however.

I think there's a plugin/extension for docx support, not sure where to find it tho.

according to this http://lxer.com/module/forums/t/27826/

OO.o 3, which is due to be released soon (in October I reckon), can handle docx files.

you could try installing one of the beta versions and checking out
