Dear all,

i am a new user of ubuntu.very recently migrated from windowz xp. I have seen that scilab was available in symantic but in its version 4. Scilab released version 5 and i was wondering when i could update to this version from symantic... (might be a dumb question...but bear in mind i am very new user with limited experience in linux)

thanks to everyone who might spend some time in answering the above.

Hi acz,

Good question ! :) I wonder when it will be possible to upgrade Scilab using Synaptic. I have downloaded and installed Scilab 5 from the scilab website but it does not work very well (crashes every time I try to plot a graph !).

If you try to install it from the website's package, could you tell me if it works ?

I have read somewhere Scilab 5 will be included in Intrepid but I do not want to wait for Intrepid to have Scilab 5 on my computer !
