I've moved and been busy as stink and I'm just now getting around to the Hardy upgrade. I was reading the "Comprehensive Media" thread and came across different information for "Ubuntu Family" and "Pre-Ubuntu Family." I've searched and can't find a thread that defines these.

So what's Family and what's Pre?

Seems to me that "Ubuntu Family" is simply an umbrella term for the various flavours of whatever-buntu that grew out of Ubuntu proper. As for the Pre, say "Pre-Ubuntu Family 8.04 Hardy Heron"... I suppose it means pre-8.04, not pre-Family. So "Pre-Ubuntu Family 8.04 Hardy Heron" would be any U-, Ku-, Edu- or Xu-buntu prior to version 8.04. (Hope I didn't forget any redheaded stepchildren or mutant uncles)
