Hey all, I used to be a Fedora user who has recently shifted over to Ubuntu and is loving it.

Though there's one issue I'm a little concerned about - the kernel. I'd like to know why ubuntu still hasn't pushed kernels newer than 2.6.24.* onto their update servers. I use Ubuntu on my laptop and face some bugs with this kernel.

Is Ubuntu slow when it comes to kernel updates? When can we expect to see a kernel update?

You need to wait for 8.10 intrepid ibex which is already alpha 6 now.

Well, does that mean that new kernels come only with new releases?

Yes, it is rare to release a new kernel once the version is stable.
