My HD is starting to sound like sand paper....

My Hard Drive is starting to sound a little like sand paper being crumpled. It is very quiet, but I never noticed it before.

Do you think I ought to be worried?

if you don't have a backup, make one. if anything its good practise. might as well go get another drive, you don't have to use it right away unless you are going to be doing important stuff that will need to be saved locally(like nethack)

Have you checked the HDMI cable?

lol. Yes I'd recommend a backup, especially if you have important files you need.
