I came across Artweaver (http://www.artweaver.de/index.php?en_version) which could be a replacement for photoshop.
The only problem is that there's no Linux version.
What do you think ?

If you are talking about Windows-only Photoshop challengers then I wold like to bring up Paint.NET (http://www.getpaint.net/) which has an easy interface of Paint but much more powerful (layers, magic lasso selections, etc.).

Another possible advantage of Paint.NET is that it is written mostly in .NET so the Mono crowd (same people that bring F-Spot, Tomboy and Banshee) have ported Paint.NET (http://code.google.com/p/paint-mono/) to Linux though not fully successful but closer than nothing!

I don't think Artweaver is meant as a Photoshop replacement. It's being developed more as an open source alternative to Corel Painter. While there is no Linux version, supposedly the developer makes sure that each build runs well on Wine.

This looks like a cool basic program for quick art, but it is too basic to compare to PhotoShop or GIMP. If it ran native in Ubuntu I would check it out, but at this point I will wait for 1.0 if I have to run it in wine. Good find though :)
