Hi. Was doing a search for clip art and came across this site. Is this site a legit site? When you do get to the clip art section watch what you type into the search block. You'll get all kinds of clip art including some very mature ones. ;)

But, when reading some of the things on the site it somewhat seems as though it's some kind of joke. I'm kind of leary about using some of the clips due to having trouble making sure if they are copyleft, free or whatever.

Has anyone been there and used anything from this site yet? Is it a legit site? Just wondering.

All information will be appreciated.

Thanks
Tom

Been there an hour ago so I posted their site on the Community Section (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=924157) for reading entertainment. The topic I posted was about Operating System.

so the onion is sponsering a wikified enclyclopedia? huh...

it states it is creative commons, so I assume that spills over to the images?

It's clearly a parody on Wikipedia (http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Content-free).

Uncyclopdia is a satirical site - not meant to be taken seriously!

After, umm "researching" the site for a while this morning, I wouldn't assume the images available there are royalty free, public domain, or free use (like Wikipedia's are).

The creative commons license seems to only apply to the content, the images are a free for all.

So, it's like I thought then. The site is a sham and don't trust being able to download the pictures right? That's a shame too, some good looking clips on that site, just too bad that you can't trust them to be copyleft, pd or just plain free for the taking. Really like some of those clips there.

Any ideas as to getting some good ones? I downloaded the extension of clip art for OpenOffice.org. I got the regular, didn't download the Non-free yet. Also seems to be some problems on inserting the regular pictures into the document from the gallery. Hopefully they have the bugs worked out for the new release that is due out. I know that it has been going on for a year or so.

I miss the clips that used to be in there from the old Sopodia site(not sure on the spelling). There was some really good pictures on that site for free use. I liked the ones of the girl warrior and others. Haven't heard of anyplace that might have those either. Guess they went away for good when that site went down.

Well, appreciate the comments on this site I had sent in for review.

Thanks guys and gals

Tom

Encyclopedia Dramatica is funnier
