Can anyone recommend a good, all-in-one printer that works well with Ubuntu? I need one for university next year but of course compatibility with Ubuntu is a big deciding factor for me.

I'm assuming you mean something like a printer with a built-in scanner?

Here's a decent list for printers: http://openprinting.org/printer_list.cgi

And the same for scanners: http://www.sane-project.org/cgi-bin/driver.pl

In general, HP and Epson printers tend to work well under Linux, and avoid Visioneer at all costs. (As of Gutsy, anyway.)

Hope these help.

Hi

Many Brother machines are also supported. You can check availability of drivers via

http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/Public/CountryTop.aspx?reg=eu&c=gb&lang=en

and follow links for each machine you are interested in.

Hi Matuku

I have an HP photosmart C4000 series printer/copier/scanner.

This worked out of the box as HP are good for Linux integration.
