About to install Satellite 2410

Hi all. Sitting here with a friend about to install Ubuntu on a Toshiba Satellite 2410. Done a bit of research and looks like its are going to work re hardware. Any comments before I do this, not about the install but about the machine specifically? Anything I should look out for, anyone that had it running 'out of the box' for 2 years and now running Hardy? Anyone that has one of these machines and has any feedback at all? ?

Just backing up so perhaps live updates here if there is an issue. Eventually a help for people with the same laptop in the future? Let's see how it goes ...

After trying every cd I have to install (desktop/alternate; ubuntu/xubutu) came to the conclusion the cd didn't want to read (regardless of burn speed). So ... Wubi!

So far so good.
