Just an idea I had. Seems to me the eee or Dell Mini or other similar computers would be perfect for this. Put on a optimized kernel and emacs with the various newsreader and email add-ons, and don't bother with X.

Any word processor that can play Tetris is all right by me. (Although the default control scheme is pretty terrible.)
