View Full Version : [ubuntu] Login Windows is OVERSIZED

I am VERY new to Ubuntu! I must say ... I am quite thrilled!

My initial challenge after installation was getting Ubuntu to recognize my video adapter and correctly set screen resolution. Thanks to the forums, I was able to gleam enough information to solve that problem. I am now trying to set the "correct" resolution for the Login Window. The screen is so over-sized that the user and password fields do not appear on the screen. As soon as I successfully log on ... X-Server correctly re-adjust my screen to 1024X768 and everything is great.

Can someone review my config file and point out the offending command.

Hi and welcome, it would appear you are using two graphic cards. Are you using dual monitors also.

This is true. There are two video cards in the box. One is integrated on the motherboard and disabled in the BIOS. The add-on card [nvidia] is the active one in use. The monitor is truly a COMPAQ V700 (from the days of OLD). I must also re-state for clarity, after the X-Server starts and the Desktop appears ... all is fine. The resolution can be changed from the SYSTEM menus and it defaults to 1024x768@85Mhz. I am just not sure where the LOGIN WINDOW is drawing its attributes.
Thanks!

There is an app called startup manager in the repos that can help configure login resolution
