gimp and eps

I am trying to open a eps file using gimp. Gimp and ghostscript are both installed. I am using Ubuntu 7.04 and Gimp and ghostscript from the repos. The file is ok because on my Windows machine the file will open fine using Gimp with Ghostscript installed.

Is there anything I need to do? I keep getting the error

Opening '/tmp/CoxLogo.eps' failed: Plug-In could not open image

Any ideas?
