I am having a problem establishing Ubuntu as my second OS and would welcome any suggestions.
My system is AMB 64bit Mobo with 2 gig memory and 1 gig sound card. My drives are 3, 1 SATA drive with Windows XP, IDE (primary) 40 gig drive for Ubuntu and second IDE slave drive for Windows.
I have tried to install Ubuntu through windows and directly off the CD. In both cases I successfully finish the install but can't get into Ubuntu. I am able to pick between windows xp and Ubuntu, but ubuntu won't load. Luckily XP is still working fine. (However, I can no longer see the 40 gig Ubuntu drive in XP.)
When I reboot, I get error 15 File not found. Upon the error, I am taken to a screen that has "find /ubuntu/boot/instal ... /instal.1st" but the file can't be found.
I read the instructions from another post and have tried "cat (hd" and then started tabbing to find all three drives. But even when I pick Ubuntu drive "cat (hd1,0)" I still can't find the file.
Lastly, Ubuntu works great from the CD ... just can't get the install to work.
Suggestions?
