Here is a quick reason that came to mind for why it is important to write accurately, particularly on this web site:
There are MANY users accessing these forums who do not speak English as a first language. When things are spelled incorrectly, or when people use grammar that is incomprehensible in 'standard' English, those people have a lot of trouble following threads. It gets even worse when they are using automated translators.
So, next time you are pondering whether to write "u" or "you", or whether to take a few seconds correcting a minor spelling / grammar mistake, think of your readers who don't naturally understand English.
