How can I get the nifty icons for my Home Folder and
Computer Folder onto my desktop?

Open gconf-editor by hitting Alt+F2 and type:
gconf-editor
navigate to apps->nautilus->desktop
Tick the box beside computer_icon_visible and home_icon_visible

get the pic you want to use save it
eg:/home/juvencio/Pictures
Right clik on the icon go to Properties.
goto Basic tab and just left clik on the icon.
search for the pic you want clik on it and injoy

ummm.. that would be if you want to change the icons to look different
