Starting a new thread because I have looked some and don't see a problem like mine. I am new to Linux. When I downloaded Ubuntu and saved it to a disk It won't do anything. Tried to boot from it and nothing. When I try to open it, it only wants to burn a new cd and not give the option of installing. What have I done wrong?

You need to burn the .iso slowly (near 4x) to cd as an "image" file. Then you can either load it up while running windows (WUBI install), or set your pc to boot from cd first then do a hard drive install.

Hi, welcome to linux! Did you burn the downloaded iso as a iso or data file?

Thanks for the replys. I went and got infrarecorder and reburned the .iso file as an image and WOW. Works now
