I noticed that FCM uses quite a few links in it's issues. Some are coded into text like this (http://www.fullcirclemagazine.org/) and others like so: http://www.fullcirclemagazine.org/

I'm wondering if it might be useful to use a link-shortening service like TinyURL or something to clean that up a bit for the occasional use of a long url...

...or am I just being picky? :P

What don't you like about links being coded into text?

Lol, coded into text is perfect. My bad for not being clear on that one. I meant only to pick on the potential for long URLs. I just like them either short or coded into the text!

We have our own link shortening via the FCM site (you'll see it mentioned in the 'What Is Ubuntu' box at the start, and in the 'Contribute' page) but it's kinda risky since if we lost our link shortening database all the links in previous issues would be broken. Also, giving the full URL lets the people see exactly where they are going, unlike a shortened URL.

Oh, and I'm lazy, so using the link shortening thing is too much work for me... ;) :D

Fair enough! lol

It was never a big deal. Just figured it might be worth mentioning.

I thought we decided against links in text, in case users printed issues?

Yep. Unless by accident, all URL's should be printed in full and linked. :)
