Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We pillage, we plunder, we rifle, and loot,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot,
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We extort, we pilfer, we filch, and sack,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Maraud and embezzle, and even high-jack,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We kindle and char, inflame and ignite,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We burn up the city, we're really a fright,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.

We're rascals, scoundrels, villans, and knaves,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We're devils and black sheep, really bad eggs,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We're beggars and blighters, ne'er-do-well cads,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Aye, but we're loved by our mommies and dads,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.

The singers of the song previously posted in this thread are bound by the code to sing said song in a sing song soliloquy in some manner of steadfastness unless at any time said song is not apropos due to any unforeseen malady, at which point, this sad song is sung.

Yo, ho, haul together,
hoist the Colors high.
Heave ho,
thieves and beggars,
never shall we die.

The king and his men
stole the queen from her bed
and bound her in her Bones.
The seas be ours
and by the powers
where we will we'll roam.

Yo, ho, haul together,
hoist the Colors high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars,
never shall we die.

Some men have died
and some are alive
and others sail on the sea
- with the keys to the cage...
and the Devil to pay
we lay to Fiddler's Green!

The bell has been raised
from it's watery grave...
Do you hear it's sepulchral tone?
We are a call to all,
pay head the squall
and turn your sail toward home!

Yo, ho, haul together,
hoist the Colors high...
Heave ho, thieves and beggars,
never shall we die.

savvy?

Obviously, I don't get all the Hindi, but I get slang and the dialect. Like when he is practicing talking to Jhanvi and he is so proper, but when he actually does he slips into gunda-speak out of nervousness.

Although I was lost the first couple of times, trying to figure out what the pronoun "apun" mean (I get it now, of course). I knew what it "meant" from the context, but I couldn't find it in any of my books and though it was from Marathi (that is the state language in the state they are in) but I found it on a site about Mumbai slang.

The movie makes me mad when they use English though. First, it is English in an Indian accent and I know there are Hindi words for what they are saying. Is English seen as being more formal or something? Like when English speakers use French or Latin phrases?

The way they speak English sort of adds to the humor, IMO. "apun" means "me" :P And he had to practice being formal, so as to impress Jhanvi :P
It's not exactly like English speakers using latin phrases, it's more fo a mixed communication type thing. I use english when I can't explain properly in Hindi, or in my other languages. It's the same here. Making it easier to understand, but kind of formal in some cases
I hope I was clear :)

One thing, when they are in the bathroom, what is the word in Hindi for "polite" that he uses? I can't quit catch it.

I have seen this also in movies from other countries (eg Philippines). Even I do not understand why.

Although I have been in a situation where they were many romanians and french people, and even I know (some:)) french, we used also english, but in whole phrases, not an english word in a french phrase, when what french I know whasn't enough to get along.

Aye maties this be the day. Was twelve score years ago today when we sighted the Horn loomin like a great monster out o' the sqaullin flurries and endless fog. An' this after six weeks of pure hellfire and damnation, scuttin back and forth, lookin for safe passage with half the royal navy close behind. Men froze up solid in the riggin, no food, no sleep, pumpin like madmen we was just to keep er afloat. Aye matie, was tryin times they was.

Them's that died was the lucky ones I tell ye.

But us Pirates have perculiar views on luck.

So this is the day we remember them you ask?

No, this is the day we spit on their watery graves and curse em for takin the lubbers way out, abandonen us in our despairin hour of need. For usin their luck to save themselves from the hardships while heapin their own share of the burden upon us all.

Is this the day we speak fondly of their rascally ways you ask?
Fond rememberence of them we have, yes, fondly we remember the sharin out of the booty from the dead men's lockers.

I don't think I really need to dress up for Halloween, my normal Avatar is already a monster.

Pirates are confused about their sexuality and overcompensate with excessive displays of macho bravado.
Ninjas listen to classical music, know the future, and are very confident.
Ninjas get all the hot girls, also, hot girls are ninjas!
