Hi,

I keep getting those damn ata errors saying that softreset failed, the DRDY error, hard reset error etc. I had a 320 GB SATA2 harddrive connected to the motherboard a few weeks ago. It started giving me those messages, so I bought a new 750 GB SATA2 harddrive and reinstalled everything on that harddrive. It did not help at all. I still get the errors.

When it fails all text and menus on the screen turn into squares, the system locks and everything gets writeprotected. If I click on a menu, the menu expands and then freezes making me unable to collapse it again.

Is it caused by a motherboard failure then? I never got these errors on my IDE harddrive. To me it seems that the sATA ports are screwed up. No matter which port I choose it still fails. Sometimes it also does not want to recognize the disk on - say port 2 - so if I connect the harddrive to port 3 it boots. Then after maybe 10 minutes everything fails.
