I think my ubuntu is properly installed and working fine. I want to install programs such as Google Earth and Rhapsody (by RealNetworks) but I cannot find them in the list of Add/Remove programs. I can download them from the web but I cannot install them. Please tell me how to add these programs to the Ubuntu Add/Remove list or, alternatively, install them from manual desktop downloads.

To install google earth you can follow this (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GoogleEarth) With Rhapsody what is the file extension? You may need to compile (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/CompilingSoftware) it from source. When looking at other programs that are not in the ubuntu repo, try looking for deb versions of those programs to install as this is normally the easier way.

Also check Synaptic Package Manager. Sometimes it can have a package that is not in Add/Remove

thanks for that link, Google earth installed flawlessly.

I now have the error:

'We were unable to connect to the Google Earth servers to activate your account.please verify your internet connection is working properly and retry your account activation. For more information visit Error code C00a0194'

It appears to be related to an ISP setting on the GE forums but other people on my connection (running windows) seem to be able to access it.

Any thoughts?
