Hi Ubuntu,

I'm a first time Linux user and I heard Ubuntu is the most reliable and easiest way to start. So I downloaded 8.04 Desktop x86 and burned it and I'm trying to run it in an older machine.

I've tweaked the machine, because the original 128 MB of RAM it had wouldn't even support 7.10, so I upgraded it to 512 MB of RAM, and am trying to use 8.04.

I get booted up to the menu asking for language (with the timer counting down) and it will not recognize by standard USB keyboard. (The keyboard works fine at my BIOS, and once I get to "BusyBox.") But it doesn't work at the menu, and then when the timer decides what I get to do, I get something about the BIOS age (!999) fails to meet (2000) and a force has to be used.

Then I get tossed to BusyBox which confused me, I googled around and found that "exit" is usually a good try. But that does nothing but gives me an error regarding my (perfectly fine) hard drive.

Any ideas guys?

Help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
