Upgraded from Ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04. My system has two hard disks and two sound cards, one sound card is disabled in Windows. The upgraded system did not support the second sound card in the system, an Audiophile 2496.
I shut off the in-built sound card in the BIOS, and after that 8.04 would not load.
Went to Windows, deleted the Ubuntu partition and reinstalled it. New installation of 7.10. GRUB re-mapped the hard disks again, so I had to switch over the data cables on the hard disks.
Everything now works again.
Is there a bug fix for the sound card?
