I've been searching all over to find how to edit the xorg.conf file so as to clone the screen onto two monitors.

I'm wanting to do this because I've got a laptop, Compaq 8510w that has a docking station that is hooked up to an external monitor that has a slightly different resolution then the laptops monitor. This becomes a problem when someone takes the laptop off the docking station and the laptop's monitor will show the incorect resolution.

With reading up on this, it sounds like the easiest way to solve this problem is to have two entries in the xorg.conf file, each one with the different monitors set at their different native resolutions and set them up to clone so that it shouldn't matter what monitor is being used, it'll show the same screen.

Now my problem is, how do I set this up inside the xorg.conf file? I've found alot of articles about multihead setups but they're always spaning their displays, not cloning them.

Any help would be very helpful.

Thanks
