I go to System>Preferences>Keyboard and on the Layouts tab I click Add. The preferences dialog simply disappears. No new dialog pops up. I am left helpless.
Now, I just noticed that under Applications>Other there are three new entries that I didn't install (unless they got installed as part of an automatic update): Input Actions, Keyboard, and Keyboard Layout.
All three of these open a dialog with the title: Configure - KDE Control Module.
I am guessing, but I don't know enough to be sure, that one or more of these are interfering with my Gnome keyboard preferences manager.
How did I get, and how do I uninstall KDE Keyboard Tool?
I'm using the default Ubuntu 8.04 installation, which uses Gnome. I had two keyboard layouts working well. All of a sudden, the layout switching doesn't work.
How can I uninstall them? They don't seem to appear in Synaptic. I don't know how they got there. Help!
