Long story short, I installed XP on my other HDD, and now my root partition with ubuntu on it is corrupted. I boot with my live CD and try to open the hard drive and it shows 6 files with trash names.

My home partition is just fine though. No issues with it.

How do I reinstall my root partition?

When you get to the partitioning stage choose the manual option then tick the box to format your current / partition and set your current /home partitions mount point to /home, as it probably show the current mount point as media.
