View Full Version : [ubuntu] Numerous problems with file management

I have three problems:

1. Suddenly when I looked at samba shares I couldn't see the shared folders within the computer thus leading to samba not being able to be used to access shared folders. Although it is still sharing folders on my Ubuntu machine.

2. After the samba problem I can't mount disks. I insert my SD card and my USB stick and they don't mount. "fdisk -l" shows they are recognized. I only can mount them with "sudo mount -t /mnt/usb /media/USB".

3. After the mount problem I can't open trash, computer or my network files. I get a warning window every time I access them.

Couldn't display "network:///".
Nautilus cannot handle network: locations.

The folder contents could not be displayed.
Sorry, couldn't display all the contents of "trash": Operation not supported

Couldn't display "computer:".
Nautilus cannot handle computer: locations.

I would like to fix these problems but I always know there is the intrepid ibex release in October if things go really bad and a reinstall is recommended.

I would like to get these fixed so thanks in advanced
