I just want to confirm something...

If I lose a hard drive I want to be able to restore everything in both Firefox and Thunderbird to exactly as it was at the time of the last backup - including all email, the address book, all extensions - everything. As an ex-Windows user, every month I did a complete backup of each program using software that was designed for that purpose. As a new Ubuntu (8.04) user, I need another way. I think all I need to do is backup these two folders:

1) /home/~/.mozilla ......(for Firefox)
2) /home/~/.mozilla-thunderbird .......(for Thunderbird)

And if I need to restore, I just reinstall Firefox and Thunderbird, delete the two folders referenced above (and all sub-folders) generated by the new install, and paste my backed up folders in the same place.

Is all of that correct? Thanks.

there are these utilities Home User Backup & Simple Backup in synaptic that can backup your entire /home directory...

never tried them though...
